About
This site is devoted to trials and travails of playing of golf with shafts made of hickory. It is intended to chronicle hickory golfer’s play and equipment as well as explore the equipment, standards, and repairs related to the pre 1935 era where hickory was primary shaft of players world wide. Additionally, the site will provide a resource for the selling, trading, renting of clubs and parts for the hickory golfer. The comments of golfers both hickory and modern golfers are encouraged.
Great blog. I’m just getting into Hickory play myself and it has really enahnced my love of golf. I look forward to reading about your future adventures.
Randy
My congratulations to you on an interesting site with some great writing. I’ll be posting links to you. Kind regards Gavin, Warwickshire , UK.
Sorry to bother – but do you know who manufactured these clubs (Matched Models) ?

Not a problem Rob. Sorry but not enough information to go on. The cleek mark look like a Stewart inspection mark, but other than that the picture isn’t clear enough even on my 32″ screen to make any correct determination. Could be a Hugh Dewar sold at Goudie’s in Glassgow, but doubtful. Wish I could give you a clearer idea.
Great blog.
I just started to play with hickory clubs. But already two shafts are broken. Now I think about to change the shaft my self.
My Question is – how to you :
– fit the shaft in the clubhaed
– do you fix the haed only with the pin or do you fix them with somthing suplement?
– are your shafts alloud to play with on tournaments?
Thank you
Looking for info on ordering shafts (irons).
Paul
If your outside of the US send me information on the number and type of shafts you desire. Otherwise just order from the shafts tab.
– fit the shaft in the clubhaed
Sand the tip down until it fits into the club very snuggly.
– do you fix the haed only with the pin or do you fix them with somthing suplement?
Never fix with just the pin. Always use some high strength epoxy.
While some people have been known to play with shafts just attached with the pin (98% of the old clubs are like this) the head will come loose and in time the shaft will break. The pin isn’t strong enough by itself to withstand the force of strike.
– are your shafts alloud to play with on tournaments?
Absolutely.

Hi,
Can I order your shafts and leather wraps by phone or mail? I do not like to order on-line. Thanks
TJ Himes
Sure…I’ll provide you an email in a separate email.
Your ordering page indicates you are out of shafts. Do you have any indication of when you might have more?
Adam
Hi

Enrico
I would like to order a replacement iron shaft or two… could you send me your email address so I can place an order? Thanks!
Doc,
Sorry about not approving this thread. Yes we have shafts back in stock. I’ve got about 20 left from the last production run. Feel free to order online or reply to me in the direct email I sent you.
I’ll drop you a line in a private email. I’m trying to keep the spam down. Great website on Swiss Hickory golf BTW. 😉
where can i get hickory golf shafts?
What are the dimensions (Diameters and length from tip to shoulder) at the hosel end of the shaft ?
.260 at the tip to .580 over 2.43 inches.
Here on the hickory golf shaft tab.
Can I use hickory shafts in Davega Imperial stainless steel head? I want to start the hickory game.
The heads are 1930+ and seem a little heavy!
If they were hickory shafted you shouldn’t have any problem, otherwise, it will be problematic as the hickory shaft doesn’t fit into the head. Also it wouldn’t be allowed in official hickory sponsored events unless the head was made for both hickory and steel shafts.
I am looking for 10 new grips. Preferably the Bison but I will take either type.
Your web site says your out of both.
Can you tell me when you will get some in and how to order?
Thanks
Jim…
I need to make some more Bison. Thanks for the reminder.
It appears that this site has not been updated in over four years. (post date to my email 08/29/2018) . Do you plan to update it in the near future? This site started with a gung-ho attitude and contributed to my interest in the hickory game.
We are still selling shafts. Otherwise it has been a little static on the content
